This is a Movement of conscientious and responsible citizens. The growth of the Movement is so slow because of the fact that today good citizens don't have enough courage and conviction to stand for the Good and people find it rather easy and convenient to sit on the fence, instead of taking the side of Good.

However, to garner strength in the Movement, it is important that hundreds, thousands and millions of people join the movement, whose responsible, committed behavior can be perceived on the roads every day.

To make this happen, respected eminent citizens from various walks of life have a great role to play. Pune has wealth of great people working in various fields like Industry, Education, Science, Literature, Art & Culture, Sports and various professions.

These people are highly respected in their own circles and many contribute various social causes. These people are like Beacons (i.e. Lighthouses) for the society. They are a source of great motivation for common citizens.

Hence, BeaconNet is project of the Movement which aims to create a virtual network of such Beacons of the society. However, there is no intention to load the eminent citizens by having more meetings. Idea of BeaconNet is that such eminent people can and should spread the spirit of the Movement within their domain and contacts, as and when they feel appropriate. Few positive words uttered by these great people, during their conversation, or a speech can go a long way to spread the positive commitment required from conscientious citizens for the Movement.

O’ Beacon of the Society, Save Pune Traffic Movement appeals you to contribute a small portion of your energy, to spread the movement wider and faster.

Please do not say, “I am busy with xyz and I will take this up after …days or months”. As you know, this never happens. The movement needs small contribution of energy from you today! E.g. if you are a doctor, please pass on the idea, by taking a few extra seconds, along-with prescription !!

Lastly, May the Beacons spread the message to other Beacons, they are in touch with. When many beacons will network in this way and provide a small part of their energy to the Movement, can the darkness remain in the city in general and traffic in particular, for long?
