BeaconNet+ was formally launched at a special IMA meeting. Dr.K.H.Sancheti inaugurated the network. This meeting of IMA was special also because IMA felicitated esteemed doctors of Pune Dr.K.B.Grant, Dr.Hardikar and Dr.Vinod Shah, who have received prestigious awards.

Other important thing was that the launch of this network, which is a project of Save Pune Traffic Movement, was little ahead of the World Health Day, 7th April. The focus of the WHO for this year is Road Safety and the punch line is: "Road Safety is no accident". Hence, it is very significant that this network of Doctors, BeaconNet+ has been launched at this point.

Dr.Devendra Shirole, President of IMA welcomed all esteemed doctors and outlined the agenda of this meeting and about the launch of BeaconNet+ and explained the significance of this in view of WHO focus for this year. 

Speaking at the occasion, Rajendra Sidhaye, Convener of Save Pune Traffic Movement, outlined the core thoughts behind this idea of citizen driven transformation and explained the idea behind this Doctor's network and thanked IMA for supporting this and Dr.K.H.Sancheti for accepting to be the President. He stressed that this is only the beginning and the participation by the Doctors in terms of spreading the spirit of the Movement will be the key to success of this.

In his speech after inaugurating the network, Dr. K.H.Sancheti profusely praised the idea of self discipline behind Save Pune Traffic Movement and appealed Doctors to join the Network.

Dr.K.B.Grant, Dr.Hardikar and Dr.Vinod Shah were also all praise for Dr.Sancheti and the team of Save Pune Traffic Movement for the initiative.

Dr.K.B.Grant, Dr.Hardikar, Dr.Vinod Shah and Dr.Shirole were given honorary membership of BeaconNet+
