1. Facts about present condition
- In the present condition of traffic,
Students are very vulnerable. They are not taught and hence do not
know safe and responsible behavior on roads.
- They simply imbibe bad habits by
observing elders on roads.
- Every
year, a few students become the victims on roads. Many of these could
be due to their own mistakes.
2. What does not
work
-
Principal
or teachers simply telling children, “you must follow rules” or
“Promise me, you will never break rules”. (Fact is, today, even
people having driving license for many years, do not know traffic
rules).

Hoping that God is there,
everything will be fine!
Question: Can we do something about this? Do we care?
3. What is needed
-
Scientific,
methodical and practical approach

Willingness,
care and a little investment of time from parents & teachers.
How?

1. Imparting
practical knowledge about safe behavior on Road in practical way
-
This will be NOT
be done in classroom. This will be done through interesting, practical
ground exercises, in a participative way, which the students will
enjoy.

This will be
done in PT period and coordinated by PT teacher.

Frequency needs
to be decided by the school. It can be twice or even once in a month.
-
For PT teacher
also, it will be simple, interesting exercises to be coordinated using
a handbook.
2. Imparting
Value lessons
-
Objective of
this part is to give positive messages to the students, in order to
take them to a state where they take pride in the responsible
behavior.
-
This can be
imparted in Value School periods, in case the school has this. Else,
it can be done through sharing of positive messages at prayer time.
One session can be taken by Activist of the Movement.

From time to
time, some students will have positive experience through safe and
responsible behavior. Such students can be encouraged to express and
share these in front of other students and commended by teachers. This
will motivate other students. Positive wave can be made to spread in
the school.
3. Rope in the
elders for participation !
We teach them Civics
subject at the school. Isn't it time, we teach them civic responsibility
and make them good citizens by design? |
