Friends,
this is where the citizens movement : "Save Pune Traffic
Movement" was born! And what is to be done by a citizen joining
this movement, is quite simple:

Make
a resolution, "I will follow the traffic rules, all the
time". (No matter what anybody else does).

Put
a bold message on your vehicle, declaring to the others about this
resolution. "I am proud to follow traffic rules always!"
What's
the idea behind this second point? There are plenty of advantages :

First
of all, we ourselves will be forced to follow the rules 100%, and we
wouldn't break them either due to the sweet excuses, or the
"genuine" reason of being in hurry.

Second,
the law-abiding citizens feel powerless on the actual road situation
and just get dragged in the flood of the rules-breakers. But as we
start seeing more and more of the fellow citizens with this message,
we will pool strength from each other! Initially we will have to just
garner our internal strength and stand firm, when the signal is red
and others are breaking and those behind you may honk the horns.
However, as our strength increases exponentially, it is the
rules-breakers who should get ridiculed.

Other
very important thing is, the movement will have visibility &
identity automatically, and even the other conscious citizens, who
have not yet joined the movement, will see the point and at least will
not break the rules. It can definitely start a snowballing effect in a
positive way. And our Movement will gather momentum exponentially. And
as we grow in number to thousands and lakhs, we can then start making
a significant impact, our appeals to authorities will start becoming
effective. A criticism from one person is powerless. But an appeal
from a movement of lakhs of rules-abiding responsible citizens will
have an immense power!
